Owen Meadows Staley

Owen Meadows Staley, 89, our hero, friend and dad returned to our Heavenly Father on May 14, 2015 surrounded by his family.
Owen was born in Park City, Utah to Otto LaVell and Elva Ione Meadows Staley. He spent his childhood roaming the valleys of Upton and Chalk Creek near Coalville, Utah. He enjoyed being in the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, boating, water and snow skiing. He snow skied until the age of 80. He graduated from North Summit High School in 1944. While in High School he played football and was also in the band. Following High School he was drafted in the Army where he served in the 8th Calvary Reconnaissance Troop during World War II. He was also recalled to serve in the Korean War.
He married his High School sweetheart, Superla Clark, on August 13, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. His greatest joy in life was his wife, children and grandchildren. A passion in his life was his involvement in the Boy Scouts of America. He participated and served in the scouting program from the age of 12 until his passing and was awarded the Silver Beaver award. Owen was employed at Mountain Fuel Supply Company for 35 years as a mechanic, retiring as the fleet supervisor.
Owen served as Bishop of the Coalville 2nd Ward on two separate occasions. He also served in many other callings including on the Stake High Council. Owen and his wife Superla served on two missions for the LDS Church, a proselyting mission to Oakland, CA and a service mission to Mongolia, helping to organize the first Mongolian Scout Jamboree.
Owen was a loving, caring neighbor and became an instant friend to everyone he met. He loved people and he loved to serve them.
